Final Contract

by Steven

One last job. No second chances.

Nine years ago, Damen Knox finished the last contract he would ever take and walked away from the most dangerous man in Port Merrin. Now he is Dean Whitlock, a boat mechanic in a small lake town, with a wife who knows only that he was once someone else, and a daughter who is about to turn nine.

Then a gray van keeps appearing on his street. A stranger asks questions. A clock ticks down a telephone line, and the night of his daughter's birthday party, the lights go out.

With his family taken and the police on his enemy's payroll, Damen has to go back into the world he escaped, using the one skill he swore never to use again. And the further he goes, the more he wonders whether he is saving the people he loves, or becoming the monster they were never meant to see.
