Check Mate
by Steven
Some games end with no second chance.
Daniel Wells is an ordinary father. His twelve-year-old daughter, June, loves chess, and he has never once agreed to play. Then June does not come home from school.
Daniel is taken to a condemned building and put at a long oak table with six strangers. Each game has rules, a choice and a price. Each one is built around trust, sacrifice and betrayal, and each one seems to have been made for him.
Years ago, in that same building, Daniel made one small decision. Somebody has been waiting a long time to ask him about it.
A story about how one move can change a life, and what it costs to put it right.
Contains violence and disturbing scenes. 18+.
